I used to use the bike/walking path at City Park. After two or three encounters with loose dogs running towards me and very defensive, rude and borderline aggressive owners I stopped going there. It wasn’t worth the risk of maybe being bitten by a loose dog or getting into a physical altercation with an entitled dog owner. These people were incredulous that anyone should point out that there is a regulation requiring dogs to be leashed on the path. They immediately got angry as if they were being victimized because they had a right to let their “good dog” be loose. I pointed out that it was unsafe for people and also the dogs. One little dog came within inches of being struck by a bike. But I got the “mind your own business” and other responses that were actually delivered with a threatening tone. I know that Animal Control can’t be everywhere all the time, but a couple of fines issued might get the word out and change some attitudes
