A Ticket to Ride: Revisiting the Storied History of Rocky Point Park.

Rocky Point Park in Warwick, Rhode Island, boasts an incredibly interesting and storied history spanning nearly 200 years. Once known as a coastline treasure, it was Rhode Island’s legendary destination for summer fun. Attractions included the Corkscrew roller coaster, a Log Flume, and the “World’s Largest Shore Dinner Hall,” which seated up to 4,000 people. The park hosted historical events, including Babe Ruth playing baseball and the first presidential phone call in 1877. Financial pressures led to the park’s closure in 1995 and bankruptcy in 1996. Today, the site is Rocky Point State Park, welcoming visitors to enjoy its natural beauty and view the remnants of its amusement past.
